Rebecca Koeppen brings her art to San Juan College

The San Juan College Art Department will present Rebecca Koeppen’s exhibit Looking for the Light from March 7 to March 28 in the Henderson Fine Arts Center Art Gallery.

After attending college on the East Coast and traveling the U.S., Rebecca Koeppen settled in Ignacio, Colorado, with her husband and daughter. Koeppen’s medium of choice is pastels on archival supports and she is particularly inspired to paint moving water. Documenting through art, the fragile and endangered water-ways of the American Southwest is a challenge Koeppen accepts often.

“The smallest unit of light is a photon and all colors depend on them,” Koeppen says describing her new exhibit. “I want to search the Four Corners until they reveal themselves to me and paint pictures of them in all their bright and dark beauty.”

An opening reception will be held on Friday, March 7, from 5-7 p.m., in the Henderson Fine Arts Center Art Gallery.
