An Artful Mix to feature two local artists at San Juan College

Julane Jensen and Evelyn James will present their work in An Artful Mix, an exhibit at the Humanities Balcony Art Gallery at San Juan College beginning March 13 and running through May 2.

Julane Jensen and Evelyn James are both largely inspired by the lifestyle and landscapes of the Southwest. Jensen works in oil for the incredible richness and color and flexibility, while James’ work includes three-dimensional floral paintings using modeling clay, among other media. Both artists maintain a studio in Artifacts Gallery in Farmington.

Julane Jensen has been juried into, and won awards, at national and regional exhibitions and is currently represented by Purple Sage Galeria in Albuquerque.

“I am inspired by the interplay of light and color in God’s creation and try to capture the mood of the moment in my paintings,” Jensen said.

Evelyn James is the former owner of Elegant Wedding Cakes by Evelyn James.

“I use my love of gardening and the outdoor as an inspiration for my art,” James said.

An opening reception will be held Thursday, March 13, from 3-5 p.m. For more information, call Cindy McNealy at 505-566-3464.
