Biography

Professor Castle grew up in Dallas and attended the University of Texas at Austin, studying Plan II and receiving her BA in English with minors in Spanish and Social Studies. After graduating, she married Richard Castle, an Air Force pilot, and taught high school English in TX, AZ, CA, VA, and DoDDS. She lived in Germany, Italy, and England for twelve years. During the summers of 1995 and 1996, Rich and Betsy Castle taught teachers and professors of English in Ukraine. Professor Castle has taught English at San Juan College since 1998. She has served on the Instructional Affairs Council, the International/Intercultural Committee (Cultures Across Borders), and the Quality/Student Learning Council, as well as serving as Lead Instructor for Freshman Composition. She enjoys travel, Jazzercise, and reading, and is committed to community service.
