One of the largest in the west, San Juan College’s indoor climbing wall has 6,000 square feet of climbing and features 17 top rope stations, 12 lead climbing lines, 2 roofs, a running crack, and a 600 square foot bouldering cave. The climbing wall routes are designed for beginners, intermediate, and advanced climbers. Our professional climbing staff will ensure a fun and safe time for all participants!
The climbing wall is available for SJC students, community members, group reservations, workshops and classes, annual bouldering competitions, and is an ideal place for birthday parties.

Birthday Parties & Group Reservations
Do you have a group interested in “learning the ropes?” Somebody’s birthday coming up? Groups and parties can be scheduled anytime during HHPC operational hours.
Reservations must be made at least 2 weeks in advance to ensure staffing.
- $10 per climber for birthday parties – Rate includes 2 hours of unlimited climbing, staff, equipment, and the use of Café Belay
- $10 per climber for all other group reservations – Rate includes 2 hours of unlimited climbing, staff, and equipment
Payment can be made at the Outdoor Equipment Rental Center next to Café Belay immediately following the completion of the program. Groups may request an invoice if they are paying with a purchase order or check..
The Health and Human Performance Center offers 2 annual competitions at the Indoor Climbing Wall. The competitions are a Red Point Bouldering structure. All are FREE to enter, some offer prizes, and all offer a good time and trophies!
Our Halloween, and February Themed Comps are all structured the same. Kids age 5 to 12 climb first followed by the Women and Men divisions.
2016 BOOuldering Competition on October 25 was a huge success with 102 participants.
Boy Scout Climbing Merit Badge:
Boy Scouts can come to the indoor climbing wall and earn their Climbing Merit Badge. The workshop is based completely on Boy Scouts of America merit badge requirements. These workshops are scheduled upon request only and require at least 2 weeks advance notice. The cost includes a one day gym pass, equipment rentals, and instruction.

The Health and Human Performance Center is pleased to announce that we can work with all individuals and populations on the climbing wall through our new adaptive harness and seat. This is particularly significant for individuals who may not have the use of their lower limbs or arms. To see how our mechanical advantage pulley system works to lift the chair up the wall, check out this video.
