Nicholas RedhouseGraduate | Associate Degree in Chemistry
Nicholas Redhouse, a native of Upper Fruitland, began his journey at San Juan College (SJC) in 2018 as a dual credit student while still in high school. He earned his Associate of Arts in Chemistry in spring 2023. Nicholas chose SJC because it felt welcoming and was close to home. He soon found that small classes, helpful professors, and resources like the Tutoring Center made a big difference.
A key moment for Redhouse at SJC was joining an undergraduate research program recommended by Dr. Veronica Evans. This experience helped him figure out his career goals, boosted his confidence in research, and improved his public speaking. “I learned a lot at SJC about the type of career I was interested in,“ said Redhouse, “College is where you discover who you are. Stay on the path, keep growing, and don’t lose sight of your goals."
Now, Nicholas is studying at the University of New Mexico, working toward degrees in Biochemistry and Business Administration in Finance. He is a UNM PREP scholar and hopes to start a Ph.D. program in biology, focusing on science policy. His passion has already led him to intern on Capitol Hill, and he will return this summer to work with the Environment & Public Works Committee on topics like water quality and reducing toxic contaminants.
