DESCRIPTION:This retrospective exhibit of Navajo artist Ed Singer will showcase paintings, pastels, and drawings spanning his long career, from the 1970s to the present. Singer’s blend of Old Master techniques with Native driven subjects and narratives challenges stereotypes in Southwestern art and Hollywood, both in terms of landscape and portraiture. Singer uses art to proudly own his identity and to illustrate Natives thriving and secure in their way of being. Opening Reception Friday, August 2, 2024 4 - 6 p.m. The Gallery is open during the reception. Gallery Hours The Henderson Fine Arts Center Art Gallery is open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and during most events in the Henderson Performance Hall.
