DESCRIPTION: “Solar Quest” is a 12-minute fulldome video that provides an overview of the Sun - Earth environment. Detailed high-quality animations and videos demonstrate various solar phenomena such as fusion, light energy, and solar surface features. Also discussed are the impacts that space weather may have on Earth and how the Earth's atmosphere and magnetic field protects all life on Earth. The show also highlights the role of the Solar Dynamic Observatory (SDO) and how scientists have begun to use it as a way to help identify and predict severe space weather. Showtimes   7:30 p.m. 8:30 p.m. Admission FREE Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis—maximum seating capacity of 60 in the planetarium. In order to preserve dark-adaption, there is no late admittance into the planetarium once the show has started! Public Stargaze If weather permits, we will offer a free public stargaze with telescopes at 8:30 p.m. in the courtyard behind the planetarium after the last show. There is no capacity limit for the stargaze, which will last a maximum of one hour.  More Information Contact David Mayeux (505) 566-3361 mayeux_d@sanjuancollege.edu Further information about Planetarium presentations is available on the SJC Planetarium Facebook page.
