School of Humanities
If you’ve always dreamed of becoming a teacher, now is the perfect time. In New Mexico, if you already have a bachelor’s degree, you can earn your teaching certificate through San Juan College’s Alternative Teacher Licensure program in just four semesters, taking approximately two classes per semester. What’s more, as soon as you are accepted into our program, you can apply to the state for a temporary two-year Alternative Level A license so that you can begin teaching right away. And since classes are hybrid (a combination of face-to-face and online instruction) and are held in the evenings or on Saturdays, you can work full-time while completing your program.
