VanAnn Moore brings to life, Amazing Women of the Wild West

Experience history coming to life when VanAnn Moore brings to life, Amazing Women of the Wild West: A Territorial Chautauqua as Dona Tules Barcelo, Susan Shelby Magoffin, and Lydia Spencer Lane, Friday, April 28, at 7 p.m., in the Little Theatre.

Amazing Women of the Wild West investigates New Mexican women through living history portrayals of Dona Tules (Gertrudes Barcelo), Susan Shelby Magoffin and Lydia Spencer Lane. These women represented what it took to survive and thrive during very colorful and extremely challenging times in New Mexico’s Territorial era.

VanAnn Moore is a Chautauqua performer and researcher who has brought a dozen historical characters alive for the New Mexico Humanities Council’s audiences, and audiences throughout the nation and world for over 14 years.

The Chautauqua performances are free and sponsored by the San Juan College Foundation, the New Mexico Humanities Council, the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs, San Juan College Encore Program and KSJE 90.9 FM.
