Plein Air Painters of the Four Corners present an exhibit titled Plein Air Here and There

Experience some of the richest landscape paintings throughout the area when the Plein Air Painters of the Four Corners present an exhibit titled Plein Air Here and There.  The exhibit will be displayed May 5 – 26, at the San Juan College Henderson Fine Arts Center Gallery.

An opening reception will be held Friday, May 5, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Plein Air Here and There will feature paintings from various artists of the Plein Air Painters of the Four Corners. The term “Plein Air” is used to refer to painting done outside on location instead of in the studio. Painting done outdoors allows for direct observation in capturing light, shadow and color, as well as the challenges of nature. Paint excursions of the Plein Air Painters lead here, to various park locations in the Southwest such as Mesa Verde, Monument Valley and Canyon de Chelly National Monument.  As well as there, to locations as far as the Bahamas.

The Plein Air Painters of the Four Corners group joins together to foster a congenial and helpful atmosphere among plein air painters, which will improve and hone painting skills, help each member realize his/her potential as an artist, and thereby heighten the enjoyment of the craft, and depict and promote the beauty of the Four Corners region.

The Henderson Fine Arts Center Art Gallery is open Monday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and on Fridays, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For further information about this exhibit or other Gallery events, contact the Art Gallery at 505-566-3464.
