Alla Prima International
March 14 - April 11, 2004.
Sunday, March 21, from 2 to 4 p.m.
The “Alla Prima International” art exhibit will hang in San Juan College’s Art Gallery from March 14 through April 11. A reception to meet painter and founding member Ann Templeton of Ruidoso, New Mexico, and other artists will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, March 21.
Alla Prima International is a group of 38 artists interested in the exploration and cultivation of plein air painting. They have traveled to varied scenic locations in the United States, as well as around the globe, to paint as a group, to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow artists, and to discuss art ideas during their many group sessions. Within Alla Prima International are many juried art show competition winners, multiple art exhibitors, experienced art teachers, and accomplished and committed artists. The works of 35 members will be included in the College’s exhibit.
Recently Alla Prima International has produced art shows in conjunction with various galleries including Festa della Europa in Stroncone, Italy; Medical Center Gallery in Madison, Wisconsin; Brazier Gallery in Richmond, Virginia; Argosy Gallery in Bar Harbor, Maine, and Lynne White’s Shriver Gallery in Taos, New Mexico.
This exhibit coincides with Ann Templeton’s oil painting workshop “En Plein Air and In the Studio” that will be held March 22-26 at San Juan College. The workshop is for intermediate and advanced painters and is being sponsored by the College’s Fine Arts Committee. Space in the workshop is limited and students are encouraged to sign up before it is full. Tuition is $375.
