Academic Skills Assessment
The College Board's ACCUPLACER™ Computerized Placement Test is required of all SJC students enrolling in English or math courses (or any course with a reading, English, or math prerequisite), to ensure proper course placement.
The test takes approximately one and one-half hours to complete; however, the assessment is not timed and you may take as long as you need. The subject areas covered are English Sentence Skills, Reading Comprehension, Arithmetic, and Beginning Algebra. Students are encouraged to go the ACCUPLACER™ website for study guides and test preparation.
The ACCUPLACER™ is offered at the San Juan college Testing Center Tuesday-Saturday. Appointments can be made online at sanjuancollege/edu/test
or call the Testing Center at 505-566-3139. We are open:
- From Memorial Day to Labor Day: Monday through Friday, 8:30-4:30, with extended hours on Thursday, 8:30-7:00;
- From Labor Day to Memorial Day: Tuesday through Saturday, 8:30-4:30, with extended hours on Thursday, 8:30-7:00.
You must bring one form of valid ID (driver's license or SJC student ID) on test day.
ACT College Entrance Examinations
The San Juan College Testing Center offers the ACT College Entrance Examination five times per year, an entrance requirement for many four-year colleges and universities. The ACT College Entrance Examination will be offered the following Saturdays: June 13, October 24, and December 12, 2015; February 6, April 9, and June 11, 2016. SAT College Entrance Examinations
The SAT Entrance Exam will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016, in the San Juan College Information Technology Building. Register on-line at http://sat.collegeboard.org/register.
