Humanities Art Gallery
January 26, 2012 – February 24, 2012
Reception: Thursday, January 26 – 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
See an array of southwestern landscapes enhanced through the oil paintings of David Schroeder in an exhibit titled Southwest Grandeur, at the San Juan College Humanities Gallery, January 26 – February 24. An opening reception will be held Thursday, January 26, from 3 to 5 p.m.
Having grown up and lived most of his life in the Southwest, Schroeder is especially fond of painting southwestern landscapes. The rocks, mesas, mountains, trees, vegetation and skies combine in a superb and majestic way. “Since childhood I have been fascinated by art,” he says. “To be able to capture a place and a moment in time and save that in an artistic rendition has always been a delight.”
“When my father first allowed me to use his set of oil paints, I was immediately hooked on oils,” he continues. “From the creamy texture and the beautiful colors to the myriad of ways they can be applied to the canvas to achieve almost any visual effect – for me, oils are the greatest!”
The Humanities Art Gallery is located in the Humanities balcony in the West Classroom Complex.
It is open Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Fridays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
