The Transfer Specialist is available to guide you through all the transfer steps, from choosing a four-year institution to preparing your application package. They coordinate College Exploration Trips to regional universities, and can connect you to the appropriate advisors at those institutions. They also review your courses to confirm they will successfully transfer.
A counselor will help you choose a career path and the academic major or program of study that relates to that career. The counselor can also help you with issues (home, work, financial) that are affecting your academic work. They can suggest other support services and resources that are available to assist you.
An advisor will work with you to plan your long-range academic goals. They'll schedule your classes, balance your course load, and make sure you're taking courses you need for transfer.
A core or specialty advisor is a faculty member in your program of study who can help you if you have questions about a class or instructor. They can discuss your interests with you and recommend colleges and universities that excel in the subject area(s) you want to pursue. They can also help you with some of the materials you need for your application to a transfer institution, such as a letter of recommendation.
To find the core advisor for your program, check with the Advising & Counseling Center or School Dean.
