Surgical Technologist are an important part of the surgical team, working closely with surgeons, operating room nurses, and anesthesiologists. As a surgical technician, you will prepare the operating room, assemble equipment, and prep the patients. It’s an exciting and challenging career, and an AAS from San Juan College can improve your job prospects. Our program provides a state-of-the-art operating room lab with everything you might find in a real lab as well as experiences in the hospital setting.

Here at San Juan you will learn the tasks and responsibilities of a surgical technologist in the operating room, including:

  • Aseptic technique
  • Preparation of instrumentation
  • Setting up rooms
  • Assisting surgeons

By the end of your degree studies, you will be able to independently prepare for a procedure and assist the surgeon in a great patient care outcome.
