Student Counseling

The San Juan College Student Counseling provides free, solution-focused personal counseling for currently enrolled students at SJC. Students include all persons who are registered in a San Juan College credit class. Adult Basic Education, General Education Degree, San Juan College High School, and Dual Credit students are included in this definition.

Counseling Services provides the following:

  • Crisis intervention
  • Counseling for such matters as: anxiety, depression, trauma, sexual assault, domestic violence, loneliness, relationship concerns, grief and loss, family stress, sexual orientation, homesickness, college-related transition, and personal growth and development
  • Teaching skills development for academic success, such as test anxiety, stress management, time management, coping skills and self-esteem.
  • Assessment and referral to other campus and community resources
  • Mental health consultation, education, and outreach programs for students, faculty, and staff.

It is recommended that students make appointments for all counseling sessions in order to confirm that a counselor will be available to them. Crisis situations will be handled as quickly as possible by a counselor.

There are several ways to schedule an appointment

  1. The most convenient method for many students is to call Student Counseling directly at (505) 566-4255
  2. Students can stop by Student Counseling in-person to schedule an appointment. The Student Counseling Center is located in the Health Science Center, room 3409.
  3. Students may send Student Counseling an email request from their San Juan College email accounts to: counseling4mentalhealth@sanjuancollege.edu.

Late Check-in/Cancellation policy
