Instrumentation student Timo Gallegos finds a new chapter at San Juan College through hands-on learning, campus resources and connections with others.
San Juan College classrooms bring together students of all ages, creating opportunities for learners to share their unique perspectives and life experiences. For 60-year-old Instrumentation student Timo Gallegos, returning to college after a serious illness became an opportunity to begin a new chapter and prepare for a career in the energy industry.
As a student in SJC’s Instrumentation, Controls, and Electrical Technology program, Gallegos is gaining hands-on experience while learning alongside students from different generations and backgrounds. His own life experiences have given him opportunities to mentor younger classmates while continuing to learn from the students and faculty around him.
Gallegos has also taken advantage of SJC resources designed to support students throughout their college experience, including Accessibility Services, Tutoring, and the Food for Thought program.
The Tri-City Record recently featured Gallegos and his journey back to the classroom, highlighting how education, campus resources, and connections with others are helping him build his next chapter.
