Program Mission
The PTA Program exists to provide a quality education that empowers knowledgeable, competent, and reflective entry-level PTAs to deliver physical therapy services to the communities served in an ever-changing healthcare environment.
Accreditation

Program Estimated Costs
The cost of completing the Physical Therapist Assistant Program includes college tuition and fees as well as additional program-related expenses. Costs may vary based on residency, individual circumstances, travel, and other factors.

Proctoring: Virtual Proctoring and/or live proctoring services will be used throughout the PTA Program. Both services provide identity verification and proctoring to ensure exam integrity and academic honesty. Online/Hybrid students are responsible for the fees related to this service when used. Pricing may vary depending on the virtual proctoring service obtained by the college.
Program Fees: Effective January 2022, students who are accepted into the Online/Hybrid program are required to pay a non-refundable program fee of $200 per semester.
Additional Costs: Other additional costs will be program fees, textbooks, annual APTA membership fees, immunizations, CPR & First Aid Certifications, PTA student kits, clinical education onboarding fees, scrubs, drug screening, and background checks. The Online/Hybrid program may have transportation and lodging expenses related to clinical externships. Students in the Online/Hybrid Program are responsible for lodging & transportation associated with the on-campus portion of the PTA lab courses. On-site labs are held at San Juan College for approximately 7 to 18 consecutive days (including weekends). Dates of these labs will be provided following acceptance into the program.

Licensure Information
Physical therapist assistants must meet the licensure or certification requirements of the jurisdiction in which they intend to practice. Requirements are established by individual jurisdictions and include graduation from a CAPTE-accredited PTA program and successful completion of the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) for physical therapist assistants, along with any other jurisdiction-specific requirements.
The San Juan College PTA Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). CAPTE accreditation satisfies the educational program requirements for PTA licensure or certification in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Individual jurisdictions may have additional requirements and retain final authority for determining eligibility for licensure or certification.

A criminal conviction may affect eligibility for licensure or certification. Students with questions regarding their eligibility should contact the appropriate licensing authority for the jurisdiction in which they intend to practice.
