Dr. Lisa Perez is appointed as the Interim Vice President for Learning to serve for six months while a search is conducted for the permanent position.

Dr. Lisa Perez has been appointed as the Interim Vice President for Learning. Dr. Perez retired in 2017, after a 33-year career in higher education. She has agreed to serve San Juan College for six months while a search is conducted.

Dr. Perez has a doctorate in Higher Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, a master’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in TESOL and Foreign Languages and a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Muhlenberg College, with a dual major of Spanish Language & Literature and Psychology.

In 2017, Dr. Perez retired from South University in Tampa, Florida, as the Dean of Academic Affairs and Operations. Prior to the Dean position, she served as the Vice President of Academic Affairs at Helms College in Augusta, Georgia. Dr. Perez was the Vice President for Academics and Student Services and Dean of Academic Affairs at Warren County Community College, in Washington, New Jersey.

Over the course of her career, Dr. Perez has taught Spanish, English as a second language, reading, writing, psychology and freshman seminar.

Perez and her husband enjoy traveling the Western part of the United States. They love the outdoors including camping in the summer and skiing and snowshoeing in the winter.
