As you will see in this annual report, we have implemented numerous transformational strategies to improve student outcomes. We are
absolutely dedicated to our students’ success and are committed to providing a high-quality education to empower students.
I’m thrilled to announce the results of the spring

2023 National Survey for Community Colleges, conducted by the Center for Community College Student Engagement (CCCSE). In this survey, a remarkable 98% of San Juan College students randomly chosen to complete the survey state they would recommend San Juan College to a friend or family member. This truly reflects our commitment to student success and creating a positive and enriching
educational experience.

Our community’s steadfast support continues to have a significant impact on both our students and community. I extend my sincere gratitude and thanks to San Juan County voters for saying yes to $7 million in Local General Obligation Bonds, as well as a $3 million Statewide GO Bond. Both are vital in improving our campus, community offerings and upgrades to our IT infrastructure and library
resources.

We were also excited as the San Juan College Housing Project, Nizhóní Sunrise Suites, won the Associated General Contractors of New Mexico (AGC NM) award for LEED Certifiable Project of the Year. We are honored to receive this prestigious recognition in partnership with Jaynes Corporation.

In addition, I am pleased to announce that San Juan College is one of 10 colleges from four states selected by Achieving the Dream, a network of 300 community colleges across the nation, to participate in the new three-year Accelerating Equitable Outcomes cohort. With the assistance of Achieving the Dream and consultation with its national experts and coaches, San Juan College aims to further strengthen our graduation, transfer and job placement rates to have a greater impact on our Four Corners community.

Speaking of our students and success, San Juan College paramedic students have achieved a 100% first-time pass rate on the National Registry Paramedic examination every year since 2012. This exemplifies San Juan College’s dedication to not only our students but also our community in helping train the next generation of first responders and healthcare workers.

This year also included anticipated enthusiasm and excitement as we welcomed “Blaze,” our new San Juan College mascot. He was introduced to the campus community during Spirit Week in April. It is exciting to see how students and staff wholeheartedly love our new mascot and have embraced the camaraderie and spirit Blaze brings to our campus.

I hope you enjoy reading this report and will take time to discover and pursue all the many opportunities that San Juan College has to offer. It has been proven that higher education serves as a direct pathway to a better life. We are here to help you on your pathway to success as you plan and prepare to dive into something bigger – Your Future.
