San Juan College selected to receive the Metallica Scholars Initiative grant.

Metallica Scholarship and Wolverine Boots recipients

Wolverine and Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation (AWMH) teamed up with the American Association of Community Colleges to celebrate and support America’s future workforce with a new collaboration collection benefiting the Metallica Scholars Initiative. San Juan College was selected to receive the Metallica Scholars Initiative grant last fall. As a result, approximately 90 students who are studying building trades, welding and drafting, were awarded scholarships.

In addition to the AWMH scholarships, they gave each student a limited-edition graphic t-shirt featuring custom artwork by Metallica collaborator Brandon Heart. Wolverine also provided each of the scholars with a new pair of Wolverine Hellcat boots. According to the Wolverine and AWMH Foundation, they wanted to give the students the tools they need to succeed as a Metallica Scholar.

“We are grateful to have Metallica and Wolverine in our corner,” says Zach Pettijohn, assistant professor of Building Trades. “As we work to learn new skills and make our communities a better place to live, it is nice for our students to have their support. And the icing on the cake was the special edition Metallica t-shirt.”
