Troy Brown has been named as the permanent dean of the San Juan College School of Trades and Technology.

Troy Brown Dean of Trades and TechnologyBrown began teaching as an adjunct instructor in the San Juan College Fire Science Program in 2012. He was named SJC Fire Science Program Coordinator in 2018 and, in May 2023, was promoted to interim dean.

“Brown has demonstrated outstanding leadership during his tenure as interim dean over the past year,” says Vice President for Learning Dr. Brandon Whatley, adding, “He has fostered vital connections with our faculty, students, and colleagues, emphasizing academic excellence, innovation, responsibility, and mutual respect. These qualities will undoubtedly benefit the School of Trades and Technology and the College for years to come.”

Before coming to San Juan College, Brown served in the Farmington Fire Department for 20 years, including three years as battalion chief, four years as deputy chief and two years as fire chief.

Brown was raised in Aztec and lives with his significant other, Danica Busby. They have five children and eight grandchildren. He enjoys the outdoors, riding horses, raising livestock, and spending time with his family.
