Graduation is an accomplishment that everyone shares in celebrating – from our employees to your family and friends

San Juan College President, Toni Hopper Pendergrass

Our graduates have achieved a significant milestone, and we are excited to share in their incredible success at our commencement ceremony.

I invite you to read the story about our student graduation speaker featured on the cover of this issue. Her story is inspiring and we are honored to be a part of her educational journey. This year’s commencement keynote speaker, Mayor Nate Duckett, will offer an encouraging and positive message to graduates.

In addition to our graduates, we have numerous successes to celebrate throughout this issue. I would like to acknowledge all of the faculty who received a Tarpley Award, and I invite you to read more on page 3. This award is given annually to faculty who have shown a commitment to excellence in the classroom. Another success we are proud of is once again earning the distinction as a Military Friendly® School, which recognizes the support we provide our veteran students. Our Veteran Center is proud to serve those who have served our country and their families.

While the spring semester is now complete, there are a variety of summer learning opportunities across campus for students of all ages. In addition to our traditional offerings, Kids Kollege provides more than 175 classes from June 5 to August 11, for students four to 15 years of age. These courses allow our youngest students to continue learning throughout the summer. One “can’t miss” program is this year’s GenCyber Camp. This no-cost camp allows middle and high school students to engage in exciting cybersecurity activities.

I sincerely appreciate San Juan College employees and students for making this academic year a successful one. I look forward to congratulating each of our graduates and celebrating this remarkable achievement with their family and friends.
