The San Juan College Foundation hosted another hugely successful Pickleball Tournament on January 26-28 at the SJC Health and Human Performance Center, utilizing six indoor pickleball courts.

The tournament proved to be a resounding success as it attracted 111 teams, all eager to showcase their skills on the pickleball court. Participants came from near and far, including New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, and even Massachusetts, showing how popular this fast-paced and entertaining sport has become. The competition included brackets spanning men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles for players of all skill levels.

One of the unique features of the tournament included the top team in each category receiving a piece of pottery made by world-renowned potter and San Juan College pottery instructor Mr. Don Ellis. These one-of-a-kind trophies add an artistic touch to the tournament and are highly sought after. Medals were also awarded to the top three teams in each bracket.

None of this would have been possible without the generous support of this year’s sponsors: APS, Big Red Tool, Inc., M&R Service, Morgan Stanley, PESCO, San Juan County Commissioner Terri Fortner, Bryan Crawford with NM Dreamhouse, Farmington Family Dentistry, Industrial Mechanical, La Mesa Chiropractic Center, and Southwest Senior Advisors. The sponsors’ commitment to the tournament highlights the importance of community
involvement and the value they place on supporting the San Juan College Foundation. SJCF, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) established in 1973, provides private sector resources for scholarships, awards, program support, and the overall advancement of San Juan College.
