San Juan College student Thomas Pipkin competed at the National SkillsUSA® competition in Atlanta, Georgia. Pipkin achieved a fifth place finish overall for the Automotive Service Technology contest. Pipkin also received a Skill Point Certificate, indicating an industry standard high level of competency throughout the competition.

Toyota Technical Education Network program at SJC

Pipkin competed after only his second semester of the SJC Toyota Technical Education Network Program (TTEN). The total program lasts about two years. Students alternate spending eight weeks on campus in classes and labs, and eight weeks at the shop of a sponsoring Toyota Motors dealership. This rotation system continues until the program is complete.
